First of all, I know it's the new hot trend for girls to wear knee high sock with some form of shorts or even skirt, but seriously? I admit, it is cute, but the styling just seems all wrong. Do you know what I mean? Yes they do show that bit of sexy thigh, but sometimes, if done wrong, it looks like you forgot the rest of your hosiery. Everyone who has fallen victim to this trend has one thing in common... claiming it as their own. Maybe you've seen it on a blog somewhere, and it is okay to admit that. I'd definitely do this maybe a few times because I'm from chilly Vancouver BC... oh wait, that's what pants and leggings are for...hmm.
Cute... but practical?
Secondly, the destroying of the sexyness of the heel. The sleek sexy heel that's sole purpose is to extend the length of the leg and make it look like it is going on for miles has been destroyed by the, "oh so ever stylish" sock. The fad of women wearing socks with strappy heels or simple pumps is completely ridiculous especially since it is a Spring/Summer fad. The time when breezy heels are supposed to be worn and the nude foot is supposed to reach out for air. If you want to imprison your foot in wool for all of summer, I have one thing to say to you... have fun with your sweaty socked feet.
(Left) 2011 April addition of Seventeen Magazine...Wedges + socks = very likely broken ankle. (Right) Adding socks to heels does not... does NOT mean you're creating a new shoe. More like you changed your mind on what shoes you decided to wear and forgot your socks. Eek!
As a concluding sentence to my rage fest on socks. Socks make me think of sweaty things that are used to keep my shoes from smelling rank after a good workout, or to keep my toes warm. Pass, on this Faux Pas.
